The future of retail .
The Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing brings together the resources and expertise of academia and the retail industry, two very different entities with a shared goal: to develop strong future retail professionals. Supported by a top-drawer list of retail partners, the center offers the benefits of research and scholarship to industry and a slice of the working world to retailing and consumer sciences students. Founded in 1994, its southwest location provides access to a diverse ethnic population, proximity to Mexico and the Pacific Rim, and a focus on the global marketplace.

Current Student Advisory Board Members

Student Advisory Board
Student Advisory Board members serve as ambassadors for the Retailing and Consumer Sciences major and the Center's corporate partners. Students selected for the board must have a GPA of at least 3.0, retail work experience, and proven leadership skills. They have the privilege of hosting and participating in events, and in doing so they communicate the objectives of the center.

Opportunities
Through its connections with top retailers and consulting firms, the center offers students the chance to intern with companies that are changing the face of the retail industry. Regular classroom speakers expose students to stories about life in the retailing trenches and examples of how businesses solve problems. Industry tours give a close-up look at a number of retail formats in a particular city. Research and career exploration can be expanded through the center's educational resource center.

Student Organizations

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)

One way to demonstrate competency and leadership is by joining a professional organization, serving on a board, or becoming active in department activities. Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a national organization providing the opportunity to teach the principles free enterprise to other students or community members.

Student Retailing Association and Kappa Omicron Nu honoray (open to all FCS and nutritional science majors) offers other ways to build leadership and networking skills.

Credit-Wise Cats

Credit-Wise Cats (named after the University of Arizona Wildcats) is a student-run organization that provides personal financial education to University of Arizona students, faculty and the greater Tucson community. Our highly trained counselors provide a wide variety of money management workshops, one-on-one counseling, regional and national case study competitions, a community-wide symposium with pertinent employment related topics and other creative programs to fulfill our mission of teaching personal finance. We have taught over 1250 students at the U of A, developed “Credit-Wise” teams on other University campuses, and provided case study competition opportunities to 26 SIFE schools around the country.
