This semester marks my third semester serving on the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing Student Advisory Board as the Home Depot Ambassador. I am currently a Retailing & Consumer Sciences pre-major and am also pursuing my B.F.A. in Dance, in addition to Business Administration, Global Business and Spanish minors.

Heavily involved in both the Retailing and Dance programs, I am a member of a variety of student organizations including Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, National Retailing Federation Student Association (NRFSA), Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), Dancer’s Consort, am the founding president of the University of Arizona Dance Education Organization (the official U of A student chapter of the National Dance Education Organization), UA Green Fund Committee, as well as serving on the Terry J. Lundgren Student Advisory Board. Additionally, I have also participated in a variety of case studies and challenges including the National Retailing Federation Foundation’s Aspire2Retail Case Competition, a store concept practicum with Dollie & Me, Macy’s Annual Marketing Case Competition and was selected as a 2012 YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund Scholar this past January.

This past summer, I had the wonderful opportunity of interning with Walmart’s Apparel Office in New York City, working in the Merchandising Division for Girl’s Bottoms, Dresses, and Active. This internship gave me a better understanding of the responsibilities, role, strategies, and daily tasks of a buyer and reassured my passion for the merchandising function of retailing. My involvement in each of these organizations, case studies/practicums, and internship have provided me with invaluable leadership, team-building, career development, “real-world” experience, and networking skills that I will carry with me throughout my entire career.

I am very honored and excited to continue serving as a member of the TJL Student Advisory Board and am also very proud to represent Home Depot for the third consecutive semester. I look forward to continue building a great relationship between our talented Retailing students and Home Depot and a promising spring semester on the Student Advisory Board.
