In January of this year, I was able to join 20 of my fellow students on the New York City Study Tour. We attended the NRF Annual Conference where I was a Collegiate Blogger, and we spent our afternoons touring offices and meeting CEOs and executives of top American and international retailers.  This unique experience made my future in the retailing industry feel real, and it helped me decide what career paths I am interested in pursuing: showroom sales and merchandising, or Public Relations event coordination.

I am a graduating senior from Mission Viejo, CA majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies, which allows me to study Retailing and Consumer Sciences, Business, and English in equal parts. This is my third semester on the Student Advisory Board and this semester I will serve as Vice Chair of the Board, overseeing student recognition events and the interviewing process to select new ambassadors.  These roles in the TJL Center are very exciting as I get to see firsthand the amazing student talents that walk the halls of our building every day. I love being a part of the TJL Center and experiencing the incredible opportunities it has to offer, such as working as a volunteer for the Global Retailing Conference and numerous networking opportunities.

Last summer, I was lucky enough to serve as the intern for WPP— The Store in Chicago, the retail practice and resource hub for WPP marketing and advertising firms. There, I was able to assist in coordinating attendees for an international web seminar and survey the field in search of new retailing trends.  I am eager to continue my work on the board and build professional relationships with my Corporate Partners, and am confident that my experiences on the board and as a volunteer in the TJL Center will help me achieve my career goals. The board is an integral part of the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing and I am honored to be a part of it. I look forward to the excitement and opportunities ahead in my last semester on the Student Advisory Board!
