As I near graduation I am proud to spend my last semester as a student ambassador for the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing. Being an ambassador allows me to give back to students and allows them to see the one- of-a- kind opportunities we are presented with. Last semester I helped plan the first networking event called “The Big Networking Event” to better prepare our students when approaching our corporate partners. To further strengthen the relationships between students and partners, I am helping plan the second session to The Big Networking Event. This semester I am on the fundraising committee and my goal is to help support the student scholarship provide for funds for outstanding students.

Along with my duties as a Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing Student ambassador I am also Co-President of our Students in Free Enterprise team, where I overlook the 12 projects that build leadership for our 75 dedicated members and create economic opportunity for our community. I am also one of six selected for our presentation team to present at our SIFE regional and national competitions. This past semester I was fortunate to win the competitive YMA Fashion Scholarship. I completed a case on identifying the “white space” in a retailer, and created a nursery home furnishings line for Macy’s. The case included merchandise assortment, mobile marketing campaign and in store selling techniques. The honor included attendance at the YMA Gala in New York City. This was an inspiring experience where I was surrounded by many of the leaders in the fashion and retail industry.

During the summer 2010 I interned in the San Francisco Bay Area for Pottery Barn completing six weeks in store management and two weeks in the corporate office. This provided me an indepth look at the home furnishings world and the complexities involved when shipping these items.

After graduation I will be working for Collective Brands starting in their Collective Career Possibilities training program as an assistant buyer.
