To me, the most intrinsically motivating aspect of retail is satisfying the needs and exceeding the expectations of your clients. For that reason, facilitating the objectives of my colleagues and the partners of the Terry J. Lundgren Center is a privilege I hold in the highest esteem. It was from interacting with the faculty and student body of the TJL Center that originally inspired me to become a student of retailing and an ambassador to the program. After serving a semester on the Student Advisory Board, I look forward to using my experience gained to advance the goals of the Center with even greater efficacy.

I also hold the office of Vice President of Funds Development for University of Arizona Students in Free Enterprise. My contributions have netted $6,000 in funding for our philanthropic ventures to date, with additional funds pending and more work yet to be accomplished. My previous position in SIFE was as a Presentation Team Coach. Grooming the UA|SIFE presentation teamfor competitive success, we traveled to San Francisco for regional competition and later Minneapolis for nationals, where our team ranked among the top finalists.

My most recent retail experience includes working as an overnight remodeler to implement Target’s P-Fresh initiative. I cooperated on a team to aid in achieving the second lowest sales disruption percentage for our store out of the 82 coinciding remodels; meaning while other stores were undergoing sales losses during the transitory period, my store’s sales were up two to five percent consistently. Before working at Target, I have had experience as a cashier at Fry’s Food and Drug in a fast-paced, upbeat environment.

This semester, it will be a pleasure to bolster the visibility of our corporate partnerships and to support them in recruiting top candidates for their workforce. I am optimistic about marketing the GoPro! Etiquette Workshop Series, hosted by Altria Group Distribution Company, to drive turnout and to influence my contemporaries to polish their professional skills. As liaison for the NRF Foundation, it will be an exciting challenge to continue shaping the newly founded NRF Student Association.

This summer, I look forward to working as a merchandising intern for Walmart, applying my understanding of retail analytics to strategically address the needs of the consumer in the pet supplies category.
