Scott Rising
The truly rare opportunity to explore both my analytical and creative skill sets is what drew me to a career in retailing. I thrive on the kind of environment where there is a perpetual desire for improvement and a healthy competitive spirit. This industry has no shortage of these kinds of environments. Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern at Walmart's Home Office in Bentonville AR in a merchandising role. This experience helped to shape my view what it takes to work in a corporate work environment, and helped develop innumerable skills that I will utilize as I progress in my career.
Currently I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in retailing and consumer sciences with a minor in English. This August I will graduate after I complete a corporate internship in either buying or planning with Macy's, Inc. I am the secretary of the Student Advisory Board and help coordinate our social media outreach (Follow us @UofARetail). In addition to my work with the Lundgren Center I am also an elected student body senator, which has given me incredible insight into the University's purchasing decisions and practices. I am excited for this semester to be a strong finish to my time at The University of Arizona. Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions.
