This semester is my fifth on the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing’s Student Advisory Board and I am looking forward to continuing working hard in that role. In addition to my other responsibilities as an ambassador, this semester I am on the Evening of Excellence and Fundraising committees. Evening of Excellence is an honorary dinner dedicated to the retailing students who have earned a GPA of a 3.5 or higher. As head of this committee, I will plan and organize the logistics of the dinner to ensure an enjoyable evening for the students and faculty. The fundraising committee’s duties include arranging events that help to support and raise money for the Student Advisory Board. My accompanying role on the Student Advisory Board includes serving as the ambassador for our Corporate Advisory Board partners, Kohl’s and PetSmart.

This past summer I interned as a buyer for The Jones Group Inc. in New York. The exposure I had to multiple aspects of retail opened my eyes to what an extraordinary industry it is. The experience I had helped strengthen my career objective, which is to become a buyer after graduation this May.

The Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing strengthens student’s relationship with the retail industry. Representing the center has been extremely beneficial because it has allowed me to develop professionalism and networking skills, both essential to succeed in the industry. I want to help other students explore the opportunities the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing provides, and the reward of being involved. This being my last semester, I am definitely going to take advantage of the opportunities available and enjoy and make the most of every experience.
