Carley Howell

I am a senior graduating in December 2012 and this will be my second semester representing the Terry J Lundgren Center for Retailing as a Student Advisory Board Ambassador. I knew that being on the Board would be a way to share my experiences with other passionate students and help me make that transition into the corporate world. It has been rewarding strengthening my relations with our CAB partners and assisting in the planning and execution of TJL Center events.

Remaining active in the Center has aided my growth and participation in the Retailing and Consumer Sciences major. During the course of the semester I accepted a summer merchandising internship with DICK’S Sporting Goods and was fortunate enough to participate and be awarded one of the YMA scholarships. As a member on the Board I was involved in the graduation and community service committees where I helped connect our team to greater Tucson. This semester I will continue as part of the graduation committee and join the fundraising team. In addition I work as a Gift Sales Associate at the UA Bookstore and am an active member in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

As the liaison for Nestle´ Purina and the UA Bookstores I will promote these companies to current students within the RCSC program as well as other majors on campus. I will take my leadership skills gained through SIFE and apply them to my role on the Board. As an ambassador for the TJL Center for Retailing it is my responsibility to effectively communicate the opportunities presented within this major as well as connect students to our partners. I am also extremely grateful to have been selected as the 2011 Gordon Brothers scholarship recipient.
