Julie Gundrum
I am currently in my junior year, serving four semesters on the Board thus far. I am an honors student with a passion for visual merchandising and upon graduation would like to begin my retailing career in New York City. What attracted me most to the RCSC major was the creative approach to business and now, the enhancement it will provide to my profile as a potential executive in the future.
The RCSC major has opened several doors for me that would not have been possible otherwise. This past March, I was awarded the nationally recognized YMA Fashion Scholarship and spent my summer in New York City as an intern for Polo Ralph Lauren. I am also a recipient of both the Kimberly McManus Lopez scholarship and the Strategic Mindshare scholarship.
As Chair of the Student Advisory Board this semester, I am honored to work with 16 talented student ambassadors. I plan to further develop career potential in the members of the Board and RCSC students as well as increase the number of honors students in our program. I would encourage RCSC students to consider the honors path, as it has been a fantastic opportunity for me. As an honors student I work one-on-one with professors and in collaboration create supplemental projects to enhance my understanding of coursework. This personalized style of learning has allowed me to establish relationships with professors and to build my portfolio quickly and with remarkable diversity.
The Student Advisory Board has provided tremendous opportunities of growth for me as a leader and as a professional. I am fully confident the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing is preparing me for what lies to come in the ever-changing world of retail through its incredible networking resources, talented staff and competitive atmosphere.
